Flooding in 2022
Since the Yellowstone floods in 2022, we have not been able to rent our cabins along the East Rosebud stream. We lost the bridge over the stream including the concrete abutments and the Old Homestead Cabin floors and walls were flooded with up to 35 inches of water. The driveway, Nancy Morris Lane, was also wiped away as the stream diverted into Roscoe.
While access to Andy’s Cabin is limited to hiking in for the moment, many contents of the Old Homestead were damaged, and the stream banks are precarious, we are lucky there was no significant damage to the buildings.
Rebuilding
As of fall 2023, we have removed the old steel bridge and abutments from the site and we are still in the process of restoring bank protections. The driveway is partially restored. We hope to finish rebuilding the Old Homestead in 2024 but cannot yet set a start date for renting. A silver lining is that we expect to rebuild for even more unique experience next to the East Rosebud surrounded by nature and water. For the moment, access to Andy’s Cabin is being planned but will likely be partially by foot without the bridge.
Rental (as of 2024/2025)
Awaiting your Montana visit are two rustic cabins with modern amenities alongside the picturesque East Rosebud River. Located twenty miles west of Red Lodge at an elevation of 5000 feet, along the front of the Beartooth Mountain range, here is where you can renew your spirit. Relax and enjoy the stunning and soothing riverside setting and views. Take beautiful walks along the trout stream and in the pastures and woods on the ranch. For more vigorous hikers there are many national forest trails a short drive away that lead you into the Beartooths and to the high tundra that stretches across to the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone Park.
The two cabins are situated opposite each other right alongside the East Rosebud River, on the Dickinson Ranch just outside the small town of Roscoe.
