The Beartooth Front is one of the most beautiful areas of Montana.  Starting in the charming tourist town of Red Lodge, with its Festival of Nations every September, you can drive southwest to the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone Park taking in the spectacular views from the Beartooth Highway as you rise above Red Lodge Creek. After you summit the 11,000 foot Beartooth Pass you continue over the flower studded tundra and past the high snow-fed lakes to Cooke City and to the wolf, bear, bison and geyser environment of Yellowstone.

As you travel west from Red Lodge along the Beartooth front, a trio of deep canyons release the East and West Rosebud and Stillwater Rivers, who further north flow into the Yellowstone River.  As well as fishing, hiking and horseback riding, there are opportunities for  kayaking, rafting, hunting in season, and cultural, art and music events and festivals.

For supplies and services there are full grocery stores, hardware stores and banks in Red Lodge and also closer in Abarokee, 15 miles north of Roscoe.  Billings, Montana’s largest city with extensive commercial services, is 70 miles to the northeast, and its airport serves the area and is easily reached by car in ninety minutes.

Available in each cabin there is a binder with more detailed information and maps about interesting locations, activities and events and in the area, as well as instructions, emergency contacts and other helpful information.

At East Rosebud Cabins you are truly and freely embedded in nature and a simpler life, while not being cut off from modern civilization.

Tippet Rise Art and Concert Center

An unexpected gem in the area is Tippet Rise Art Center, located on an 12,000 acre working ranch close to the town of Fishtail. The art center presents concerts by world-renowned classical musicians and exhibits large-scale contemporary outdoor sculptures.

The art center is open to the public in limited numbers during the months of July, August and September. Reservations, via the art center’s website, are required to visit Tippet Rise. It is well worth a visit!
